Clubs
Academic Decathlon- Cruz/Saeturn
AcaDeca is a competitive team. We learn everything that we can about the current year's theme, and prepare to compete against other Butte County schools in February. We are a team, and we work together!
Art/Photo Club- Anderson, K
Hey, Hey, Hey, Art Club is a place where we can create art and learn from each other. We come up with ideas regarding how we can help to make our community a more creative place. We aim to inspire others. Currently we are working to create a calendar for 2023 based around pop culture “Heroes”. We have many other ideas for the rest of the school year so please stop by during lunch on Tuesdays.
Black Student Union- Castillo/Jenkins
Our vision for BSU is to serve the OHS Campus with cultural, educational, and social initiatives as we aim to build leaders, promote unity and contribute to student success.
Block O-Anderson, R
Block O is a club that does a variety of community service projects. They range from trash clean up on campus and in the community to the maintenance of the O on the side of Table Mountain. In the past, Block O has been an organization that is exclusively for athletes to give back to the community, but more recently we have opened the club to anyone who wants to be a part of the activities we partake in.
Catering Club- Smith, S
This club provides the opportunity for culinary students to take what they have learned in the classroom and apply it to real world opportunities. We provide community service for various organizations (such as the City of Oroville) as well as perform standalone catering jobs. Baking is our speciality!
Cancer Awareness Club- Gonzalez
CASG is a safe place for individuals who deal with cancer in their life, & for those who wish to help spread awareness. We want to teach others of the symptoms & side-effects of different cancer diagnoses. Along with this, raise money for cancer patients & gifts to give them. But, our main goal is to play as a healthy outlet for peers who struggle physically or emotionally with cancer in their life.
CSF-Castillo/Mandy
The California Scholarship Federation (CSF) is a state-wide academic honors organization whose purpose is to recognize students who have demonstrated outstanding academic achievement. CSF is recognized by colleges and universities nationwide. CSF Membership is based on qualifying grades that are earned each semester. There are many scholarship opportunities for students enrolled in CSF.
Club Latino-Castillo/Cruz
Our mission with club latino is to expose our campus to the latino community and culture. We hope to celebrate our culture as well as provide opportunities for our members to learn about culture and opportunities.
Creative Writers Guild- Lawson
A club that meets to practice creative writing, share sources of inspiration, and is considering branching into creating a school newspaper or other means of sharing creative writing (our own and that which we appreciate) with our school and community. Everyone is welcome to join!
Dance Club- Diaz
In Dance Club, students will learn techniques that will help them learn not only how to dance but also give them better balance and more fluid movements. It will provide a community for them where they can work towards improving skills and reach their full potential. The ability to be a team player is valuable in every stage of life. Through dance they can learn to work together to set short–term and long-term goals and build strategies to accomplish them.
Environmental Club- Cleary/Louis
The purpose of the club is to create awareness of environmental issues, such as protection, conservation, preservation, and restoration, with an emphasis on educating and empowering students. Students who are interested in environmental advocacy and awareness are encouraged to join. Our mission has three components: (1) Appreciation of the environment, (2) Caring for the Earth & (3) Promoting sustainability through education of staff and students. We have annual hikes to Feather Falls, Phantom Falls, and the Sewim-Bo Trail and help with clean up efforts on campus and in the greater community. Come on!!! Be part of something that smells like patchouli.
E-Sports- Anderson K/Anderson R/Correa
The ESports Club is the first step in creating an OHS ESports team. The club will provide an opportunity for students to work collaboratively with others and to engage positively in the school community. The ESports Club provides members the opportunity to practice and become familiar with ESports expectations, protocols, and procedures. Members will be working on fundraising events to obtain equipment needed to proceed with ESports events.
FCCLA-Smith, S
Family, Career and Community Leaders of America (FCCLA) is a national Career and Technical Student Organization (CTSO) for students in Family and Consumer Sciences (FCS) courses. Involvement in FCCLA offers members the opportunity to expand their leadership potential through competitive events, community service, and intra-curricular career exploration.
Fellowship of Christian Students –Cuny
The fellowship of Christian Students, aka Christian Club, is an open club that meets weekly to support students in their faith. Our main purposes are to Unlock Faith, Unleash Truth, Elevate Christ, and to Serve Others. We do this through weekly meetings, devotionals, community service, guest speakers and fun fellowship.
FNL- Lawson
FNL is a great opportunity to gain experience in school leadership, community service, and creating changes you want to see in the world. In this club we identify issues on campus that we want to create positive change to address, work together to address those issues, and take action together. You also get opportunities to attend a retreat and host activities on campus. Everyone is welcome to attend!
GSA- Shaffer
The Gay-Straight Alliance is a safe space for anyone who wants to celebrate the sexual orientation and gender identities of themselves and others. GSA is a student-run club, and activities vary yearly depending on the direction participants want to go.
Games Club-Anderson K/Correa
Games Group is a social club to provide opportunity for students to engage with other students around shared interests, practice social skills and reciprocal engagement, and provide an opportunity to feel connected to the school community through games of all types, e.g. card games, board games, role playing games, handheld games, and outdoor games.
Hmong Club- Lee
Interact Club –Cuny
Vision Statement: We, the Oroville High School Interact Club, will improve and support our community and our school and inspire others to do so. We will do this by working on international and community projects with the Oroville Sunrise Rotary Club and become involved in other cultures to further understand and respect them.
Independent Living Skills- Cuny
The Independent Living Skills club is a program designed to help students improve their life skills. We do recycling and raise funds for activities and field trips.
Key Club-Horn, S
Our members make the world a better place through service. In doing so, we grow as individuals and as leaders by answering the call to lead, summoning the courage to engage and developing the heart to serve in our community.
Link Crew-Castillo/Frazier
Link Crew is a program that juniors and seniors can apply for in april. It is a student leadership program that welcomes and mentors freshman students to help them feel more comfortable about the first year of their high school experience.

Native American Club- Gramps
The Native American club shares Native American culture with students and staff at OHS. The NAC also facilitates field trips for Native and non-native students to visit college campuses and Native American related sites and events.
The Nugget- Saeturn
Yearbook is a class at OHS. The Nugget Staff is responsible for the creation of the school’s annual yearbook. This class involves the recording of events, individuals, and ideas in a variety of formats. Inherent to this process is an understanding of the elements and principles of art, photography, graphic design, text, business, and organization. If you are interested in joining the Nugget Staff, talk to your counselor about Yearbook Design and Publication (11th and 12th only).
