IEP Support
Special Education at Oroville High School includes Mild/Moderate Support Needs classes and the ACCESS program.
Mild/Moderate Support Needs include providing specially designed instruction to access grade-level California Content Standards in the Least Restrictive Environment. Students are supported through direct instructional support, accommodations and/or modifications to setting, instruction, curriculum, or supports and services. Support focus areas include one or more of the following: academics, vocational/transition, communication, social-emotional, behavioral, gross/fine motor, and learning environment access skills.
Eligibility for Special Education classes is determined by the Individualized Education Program (IEP) team.
Access
The ACCESS (All Children Can Experience School Success) program is a specialized therapeutic classroom designed to support students who benefit from a structured, nurturing, and individualized educational environment. ACCESS integrates academic instruction with evidence-based social-emotional learning interventions, providing comprehensive support to help students develop coping skills, emotional regulation, and positive behavioral strategies. The program emphasizes collaboration between educators, mental health professionals, and families to create a safe, inclusive setting where each student can achieve their full potential. Through a combination of small group instruction, individualized attention, and trauma-informed therapeutic support, ACCESS empowers students to build confidence, resilience, and readiness for success in school and beyond.
