Common Core Curriculum
The OHS Mathematics Department provides a strong and broad curriculum ranging from Math 1 to Advanced Placement Calculus and Statistics. Several years ago, we phased out Algebra 1, Geometry, Algebra 2 and replaced these core classes with Integrated Math 1, Integrated Math 2, and Integrated Math 3 (see below for more information about curriculum changes.)

All OUHSD students are required to earn at least 20 math credits (4 semesters or 2 years) and must successfully complete Math 1 and one higher level Math class to earn a high school diploma. For students who plan to attend a California State University, 3 years (6 semesters) of math are required that must include Algebra 1, Geometry, Algebra 2 or Integrated Math 1, Integrated Math 2, Integrated Math 3.  In addition, CSU recommends that students take a 4th year of math.  The University of California also requires 3 years of math for college admission, but strongly recommends 4 years (8 semesters.)

MATH PATHWAYS AND CURRICULUM
Current Common Core Math Standards can be found in grades 9-12.  The common core high school classes being offered are Integrated Math 1, Integrated Math 2, and Integrated Math 3.

Other Math classes and pathways include Math 1, 2, and 3 Honors pathway in preparation to take AP Calculus senior year.  There is a Math 1 and 2 Computing and Robotics pathway that synergizes well with the Computer Science courses.  After successfully passing Math 1, students may also take Personal Finance.  After successfully passing Math 2, students may take Statistics.

To move on to the next level Math class, students need to earn a minimum grade of 60% D- for both semesters.  To move on to the next level of Math class in the Honors pathway, students need to earn a minimum grade of 70% C-.
