OROVILLE HIGH SCHOOL PHYSICAL EDUCATION DEPARTMENT
PE Classes Program Vision: Throughout the school year, students will be introduced to a variety of individual and team activities, sports, and fitness exercises. At the end of the course, students will be able to demonstrate multiple skills taught in each unit, recall skill cues, explain rules associated with each unit, and be able to apply prior knowledge to new activities. Students will be physically prepared for Fitness Assessment testing. The overall objective is for students to discover one or more physical activities they can participate in to be active for life.
Weight Room Classes Program Vision: Throughout the school year, students will be introduced to a variety of cardiovascular, muscular strength, motor skills, and knowledge needed to lead an active and healthy lifestyle. At the end of the course, students will be able to demonstrate multiple skills taught throughout the year, recall skill cues, explain and form their own workout plans. The overall objective is for students to discover a passion for physical fitness that they can apply once they graduate to continue a healthy active lifestyle.
Physical Education Class Options

Classes offered for 9th graders
- PE 9 (required class for all Freshman)
- Independent Study PE (ISPE)- Must contact and receive approval from school counselor to enroll (first priority to Band Students and Multi Sport Athletes). Each spring, students in grade 9 take the FitnessGram Test, with results reported to the California Department of Education.
Classes offered for 10th-12th graders;
- PE 10-12
- PE 10-12 Advanced- Requires approval from school counselor and PE department
- Firming and Toning- Requires approval from school counselor and PE department
- Weights and Conditioning- Requires approval from school counselor and PE department
- CrossFit- Requires approval from school counselor and PE department
Independent Study PE (ISPE)- Must contact and receive approval from school counselor to enroll (first priority to Band Students and Multi Sport Athletes)
